This term is all about understanding how to gather, read, and interpret information—a key life skill in maths. We’ll introduce your child to graphing, data analysis, and probability while refreshing core number operations.

- Interpreting data sets
- Introduction to chance and probability
- Revision of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division
Numbers, Operations & Fractions
Here we focus on building strong foundations in number operations and fluency with fractions and decimals. Students develop their mental maths, problem-solving strategies, and start thinking flexibly with quantities.
Topics Covered:
- Place value & working with large numbers
- Addition, subtraction, multiplication, division
- Estimation and number patterns
- Fractions (identifying, comparing, converting)
- Introduction to decimals
Measurement & 2D Geometry
Now we bring maths to life. Your child will learn how to measure, calculate, and classify shapes—essential skills for visual-spatial thinking and real-world application.
Topics Covered:
- Percentages & operations with decimals/fractions
- Measuring and classifying angles
- Shapes, length, perimeter
- Area of 2D shapes
- Working on the Cartesian plane
3D Shapes, Measurement & Time
In the final term, we go deeper into measurement, 3D structure, and time. Students learn how to apply their maths knowledge in complex, multi-step problems.
Topics Covered:
- 3D objects and spatial reasoning
- Volume, mass, and capacity
- 12- and 24-hour time
- Reviewing core concepts from earlier in the year
- Worded problem-solving
